Stay Salty

The title to a devotional I read this morning was “stay salty”

This caught my attention right away as I have been spending one day a month with a dear friend at a salt cave.  What is a salt cave?  I had the same question until I went for the first time.  Basically it is a dark room filled with salt, kind of a cool feeling on your bare feet.  You walk into the room and rest in a zero gravity chair while salt is infused into the air.  We usually go for a 45 minute session and I come out feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.

The devotional went on the quote Matthew 5:13 – “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.”   It explained that Jesus created us to be salty and stay salty.  Confusing I know but if I think about salt and how I use it, I am reminded that I use salt to add flavor or make better the food I am eating.  God wants us to make other better by being the salt of the earth.  By infusing God’s love into others and making them thirst for God.

As I go through my journey there is one consistent for me.  I always want to be the person who is a representative of God and his love for us.  I have always made sure to be kind to strangers, Saying hello to everyone who passes me.  Sometimes people are not ready for my hearty hello but I still give it.  I hope to make their day just a little bit better by acknowledging their presence and letting them know they are seen.

I hope to have the strength and mind space to continue my practice of saying hello as I go through my journey.  I know I will try my hardest to make it a lifelong practice so if I have not seen you in a while, Hello and I hope you have a great day.

My daily gratitude if for the beautiful weather we had this weekend, for Luke who went for a walk with his mom, I think he really just wanted to play Pokemon GO but we got some time together alone to talk, and for the strength to walk in God’s presence and enjoy the earth he has given us.
