Giving vs receiving

by | Nov 2, 2021

“When anxiety is great within you, turn to Me for consolation.”

I have always been someone who gets satisfaction from giving to others.  I thought I was really good at it until my diagnosis.  Prior I would give a little here and there and felt like that was what I was called to do.  In reality we are called to give in all ways and times.  Never have I felt comfort from giving as I do right now.

When you are first diagnosed you can be inundated with calls and visitors and people who want to help.  Of course at that time you mind is a whirlwind of thoughts and to think about how someone can help you is unattainable.  Over time, the calls become less and the offers for help dwindle.  I guess one could become discouraged by the lack of attention but I have found peace and comfort by focusing on my friends in need.  I know I am not the only one struggling with a bump in the road of life and others need the same attention I have received.

It really isn’t much of a task and most recently has been a text or call to check in to say I still care.  You are still in my thoughts and prayers and will be for as long as I am able.  I have been given such blessings in my friends and family and when they struggle, I feel it.  There may not be something tangible I can do to support them but I can remind them that I value them and am praying for them.  That gives me so much peace and comfort.

If I haven’t reached out to you in a while, know that I still care and value you.  You are always in my thoughts and prayers as a person who has made my life rich and full.  I can’t thank you enough for that.

Today’s Gratitude:  Today I am grateful for the warmth on my face from the rising sun, my relationships and friendships and the peace that comes from a simple Hello, how are you?  I am thinking of you.
